Hibiki 40 – premium exhibition in Hamburg and Berlin

The main installation was presented at the prestigious Alsterhaus department store in Hamburg and offered visitors a visual experience along with the opportunity to discover the full range of Suntory Whiskies over a two-week period.
At the same time, we delivered a high-impact display in an 8-metre window at Berlin’s KaDeWe – one of the most prestigious retail locations in Europe.

From initial brief to full execution
We managed the entire project in-house – from the first concept to the final installation. Every detail was designed with focus on:
- premium atmosphere with clean and light spatial design,
- Japanese aesthetics balancing simplicity and natural elements,
- tight production timeline with no compromise on quality.

Design inspired by Japanese aesthetics
The concept revolved around light wood, deep lilac tones and a premium aesthetic highlighted by gold lettering and lacquered surfaces. Our in-house design and engineering team collaborated with a master carpenter on the execution. The furniture was made from high-quality laminated boards and lacquered MDF, complemented by wooden slats inspired by previous Beam Suntory projects.
Display elements such as pillars, shelves and LED lighting were designed to keep the 7.5 × 5.5 metre space open and accessible. Both aesthetics and functionality were essential – including product storage, lockable cabinets, and tasting and sales areas.

Precise alignment of materials and details
To achieve the best result, we tested multiple combinations of foil colours, finishes and surface treatments to ensure visual harmony with the Hibiki brand. Even subtle details – such as the precise carpet shade – were carefully selected to create a fully balanced and refined overall impression.
A success beyond expectations
The installation drew attention from the very first week – when the bottle was hidden under a custom cloth embroidered with the Hibiki logo. The whole display felt harmonious, premium and clean – perfectly in line with the brand’s DNA.
Both the Hamburg and Berlin installations received outstanding feedback from the client and customers alike, ultimately leading to an extension of the Berlin display at KaDeWe.

Recognition and awards
For us, Hibiki 40 is proof that when creativity, craftsmanship and deep brand understanding come together, something truly exceptional can happen.
We’re proud that this work was recognised by the expert juries of the prestigious German Superstar and Czech Popai Awards, where the exhibition won 2nd place in the Permanent Installations category in both competitions.
